Ratatat Theatre Company Ltd is a professional, non-profit-making company limited by guarantee, and is a member of itc - the Independent Theatre Council.
All about us
The company was formed by Dominic Goodwin & Stephanie Preacher (they first met 23 years ago) and also comprises newcomers to the profession.
Dominic Goodwin has a long performing and directing C.V., and for 9 years was Development Manager at Helmsley Arts Centre. Stephanie Preacher has acted her way through all forms of theatre from experimental (Chameleon Theatre), fortnightly rep (Haymarket Theatre), commercial touring (Bill Kenwright) to West End (Humble Boy: Gielgud Theatre). She has recently had roles in CORONATION STREET and EMMERDALE
October 2005
Ratatat Theatre Company Ltd opened with PHOTO FINISH by Susie Spencer at the York Theatre Royal Studio. This was part of York's first-ever 50+ festival.
March 2006
Three newcomers (performer Beatrice Augusta, costume design by Linzi Foxcroft, sets by Clare Nelson) had their first professional engagements for the tour of Mike Kenny's play WHOSE SHOES? The company received project funding from The Arts Council England, Yorkshire.
August 2006
WHOSE SHOES? shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and makes money! (£12) It is very favourably reviewed in The Times, with photograph.
April 2007
John Godber's classic SEPTEMBER IN THE RAIN, a 23-date tour from the East coast to the Welsh borders on a Rural Arts Tour.
August 2007
Premiere of Susie Spencer's comedy DROPPING TO ZERO at the Edinburgh Fringe with newcomer Rebecca Ann Lovell and Dominic Goodwin. Does not make money, but everyone had a good time. 4-star reviews.
April 2008
The Rural Touring unit begs for another Godber, so HAPPY JACK hits the road for 36 dates from April - June covering the rural Midlands from the East coast to the Welsh borders, as well as home territory in Yorkshire.
